Spanning 85 hectares, Munich's Olympic Park offers something for everyone. The BMW Museum is the company-owned automobile museum of the car manufacturer BMW. It is located at Am Riesenfeld near the Olympic grounds at the corner of Petuelring and Lerchenauer Straße in Munich and was opened in 1973 shortly after the Summer Olympic Games.

Nymphenburg Palace invites you on a journey back to the time of the Electors, Dukes, and Kings. Here, in the Palace Museum and the Royal Stables Museum, you can learn much about the history of Munich and the Bavarian rulers. In the Gallery of Beauties, you can see, among other things, a portrait of Lola Montez, the mistress of Ludwig I. The palace can be explored independently. Themed and group tours are offered regularly. The palace gardens, with their park pavilions, invite you to stroll, explore, and relax. Take some time for a gondola ride on the canal. Throughout the year, Nymphenburg Palace hosts concerts and lectures on a variety of topics.

The Allianz Arena is a football stadium in the north of Munich. It mainly hosts football matches, but also other events.

The Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus is an art museum in the Bavarian capital of Munich. It is housed in the Lenbachpalais, the listed villa of the "painter prince" Franz von Lenbach, located at Luisenstraße 33 in Munich's art district.

The Alte Pinakothek houses paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries. 700 paintings from all over Europe by Dürer, Rembrandt, Altdorfer, Rubens, Botticelli, da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, and many others captivate numerous visitors each year. The Neue Pinakothek is closed for extensive renovations for several years (until 2025), therefore approximately 90 exhibits from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries are also on display in the Alte Pinakothek. Here, visitors can admire works by van Gogh, Klimt, Segantini, and many other artists. In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Alte Pinakothek offers readings, workshops, concerts, and regular special exhibitions.

Spanning 12,000 square meters, the Pinakothek der Moderne houses four museums dedicated to design, modern art, architecture, and graphic design. The Pinakothek der Moderne offers classic guided tours, as well as tours focusing on individual artists and special exhibitions. Children aged five and up can enjoy a free, interactive discovery tour. This scavenger hunt, culminating in a surprise at the end, takes them through all the collections. Free workshops for children aged five to twelve are also offered every Sunday.

Munich's largest park is the English Garden. It's bigger than Central Park in New York! The English Garden invites you to stroll, relax, and enjoy sports. Even experienced surfers can ride the Eisbach wave, and horseback riders can enjoy a ride on the numerous bridle paths. From the famous Monopteros, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Munich skyline. The Chinese Tower is also worth a visit, and a traditional tea ceremony is regularly held in the Japanese Tea House. Other highlights include the Kocherlball (a traditional Bavarian ball) and the Japan Festival in July, as well as the Munich University Riding School.

Karlsplatz, also known as Stachus, is an important and well-known square in Munich. It marks the western entrance to the pedestrian zone and is a major hub for Munich's public transport system. Its official name, "Karlsplatz," was given to it by Elector Karl Theodor. Its unofficial name, "Stachus," comes from a former inn owned by Eustachius Förderl. Stachus remains one of the busiest squares in Europe, even though cars have been banned from crossing it since 1972. It is served by trams, the U-Bahn (subway), buses, and the S-Bahn (suburban train), connecting Stachus to almost every destination in Munich. In summer, the Stachus Fountain is in operation. In winter, the Munich Ice Magic event takes place here, featuring an ice skating rink. Beneath Stachus are the Stachus Passagen – Europe's largest underground shopping center.

Odeonsplatz marks the northern boundary of the pedestrian zone. Ludwigstrasse begins here. The Odeon was once Munich's most famous concert hall, but it was destroyed in World War II. Only the facade survived thanks to reconstruction. Today, the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior is located here. The covered inner courtyard demonstrates the size of the Odeon's former concert hall. Also located on Odeonsplatz are the Munich Residenz, Germany's largest inner-city palace with its Hofgarten (Court Garden), the Feldherrnhalle (Field Marshals' Hall), and the Theatinerkirche (Theatine Church) with its striking light yellow facade.

The Munich Residenz is the largest inner-city palace in Germany and served as the residence and seat of government for the Bavarian dukes, electors, and kings from 1508 to 1918. The Munich Residenz comprises the Royal Building with its residential palace and state rooms, the Antiquarium, the impressive courtyards, the Hercules Hall, the Bronze Halls, the Cuvilliés Theatre, and the Treasury. A free audio guide allows visitors to explore the rooms, which house artworks, jewels, and crowns, independently. Special themed tours for adults, children, and school groups are offered regularly. A particular highlight, the Yellow Staircase, has been open again since June 2021 for the first time since its destruction in World War II. Twenty-eight steps, framed by polished stucco marble and crowned by a twelve-meter-high dome, lead to the Residenz's private chambers. The Court Garden, with its famous Temple of Diana, is always worth a visit for a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Lady) is the landmark of Munich. From a height of almost 99 meters, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Munich's old town. Only the south tower is open to the public. You can also reach the viewing platform via an elevator.

Germany's largest opera house, with nearly 350 opera and ballet performances annually, is definitely worth a visit. The National Theatre has been the home of the Bavarian State Opera since 1818. Richard Wagner's masterpieces "Tristan und Isolde," "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg," "Das Rheingold," and "Die Walküre" premiered here. A particular highlight is the annual opera festival, which concludes the season and has been held since 1875.

Marienplatz is the heart of Munich. Here you'll find the Old Town Hall, the New Town Hall, and the Marian Column, which commemorates the end of the Thirty Years' War. Events take place on Marienplatz throughout the year. The pedestrian zone (Kaufingerstraße, Theatinerstraße, Residenzstraße) also begins here. The Viktualienmarkt (food market) and the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Lady) are located very close to Marienplatz. A particular highlight is the historic Glockenspiel (carillon) at the New Town Hall. Since 1908, it has entertained visitors with its 16 figures and 43 bells.

The Bavarian National Museum collects, preserves, and researches unique artifacts of Bavarian art, culture, and history, as well as their European connections, from late antiquity to Art Nouveau. To ensure the relevance of its work, some initiatives extend beyond this period.

Munich's oldest parish church, with the oldest bells and the city's first historical tower clocks, offers a wonderful view of Marienplatz, the Frauenkirche, and the whole of Munich from a viewing platform at a height of 56 meters.

The Viktualienmarkt offers a unique market experience amidst its iconic fountains and Munich's most central beer garden. Here you'll find local produce and can satisfy your appetite at the numerous food stalls. The Viktualienmarkt beer garden awaits you with typical Bavarian dishes and a rotating beer menu. Beers from Munich's six major breweries are served on a rotating basis – a different one is featured every six weeks.

Experience the Deutsches Museum – one of the world's largest science museums – in Munich. Here, technology and the laws of nature are presented, illustrated, and explained in an impressive way. Nineteen permanent exhibitions, ranging from atomic physics to robotics, await exploration across 20,000 m². An additional highlight is the "Forum of the Future" with its streaming dome and virtual reality lab. The Deutsches Museum is a hands-on museum for children and adults alike – there's something for everyone.

Founded in 1911, Hellabrunn Zoo is the world's first geo-zoo. Here, you can experience animals arranged by continent without the obstruction of fences and cages, at any time of year. It is home to over 750 animal species, some of which live in mixed-species groups. Regular feedings are a highlight of every zoo visit for the whole family.
